Night: Beliefs, Values and Challenges Journal Prompt
 
For the unit of study, you have the option to read the text or access the audio/ read aloud clip for each section of text.
  • The full text is available on the classroom blog to download.
  • The read aloud audio clip has been included in this post and deals specifically with this journal entry prompt. 
  • As you read/ listen consider the content/ thoughts/ feelings/ experiences of our character as you organize your ideas into your journal entry. 
  • Follow the link below to listen to audio clip/ read aloud 
  •  Each journal entry is a paragraph (5 to 7 sentences)  
Over the course of Night, you need to respond/ answer one of the journal prompts, which I have included below and also created a Google Doc form for you to hand into me electronically Night- Beliefs Entry- Google Doc

 Beliefs, Values and Challenges (pp. 98-115)

  1. When have you been faced with a time your beliefs were challenged? What challenged your beliefs? Why? How did you handle it? 
  2. What has been your greatest life challenge? Were you able to overcome this challenge and what did you have to do? 
  3. What is something you have sacrificed to help someone else? Describe the situation and your feelings. 
  4. Respond to the following quote from Joseph Joubert: "It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it."

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Please use the google form to complete/ finish a paragraph reflection with your name clearly marked on your assignment to get credit for your thoughts and ideas.Night- Beliefs Entry- Google Doc
  2. Click submit once you have finished your reflection .
  3. By using the Google form it will be emailed to me directly. 
 Once you have completed your paragraph response, please clearly mark your name on your assignment and email/ Google Doc it to Mrs. Otke, so you can get credit for your ideas and thoughts.
