Unit End Assignment- Music as a Vehicle for Change

Folk and popular music in the 20th and 21st century have provided a vehicle for many individuals to protest against injustice, and oppression; but, can also be a tool for empowerment.

As part of this unit end assignment, I would like you to listen to FNMI voices represented in different communities, schools, and Nations in Canada.  The youth and the community collaborated with N'we Jinan to celebrate and showcase Indigenous voices. I have selected 4 different videos from youth across Canada: Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and lastly, British Columbia whom consider identity, culture, and social issues that exist in a Canadian context.
N'we Jinan Artists: "Young and Happy" (Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan)

N'we Jinan Artists: "Home to Me" (Grassy Narrows First Nation, Ontario)

N'we Jinan Artists: "Help you See" (Garden Hill, Manitoba)

N'we Jinan Artists: "The Highway" (Kitsumkalum First Nation, British Columbia)
