Definitions of Terms

Criticism

1.    The act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything.

2.    The act of passing severe judgment; censure; faultfinding.

3.    The act or art of analyzing and evaluating or judging the quality of a literary or artistic work, musical performance, art exhibit, dramatic production, etc.

4.    A critical comment, article, or essay; critique.

Conformity

1.    Action in accord with prevailing social standards, attitudes, practices, etc.

Opposing

1.    To act against or provide resistance to; combat: to vigorously oppose tyranny in every form.

2.    To stand in the way of; hinder; obstruct.

3.    To set as an opponent or adversary.

4.    To be hostile or adverse to, as in opinion: to oppose a resolution in a debate.

5.    To set as an obstacle or hindrance.

Reform

1.    The improvement or amendment of what is wrong, corrupt, unsatisfactory, etc.

Resistance

1.    The act or power of resisting, opposing, or withstanding.

2.    The opposition offered by one thing, force, etc., to another.

Rebellion

1.    Open, organized, and armed resistance to one's government or ruler.

2.    Resistance to or defiance of any authority, control, or tradition.

3.    The act of rebelling.

Revolutionary

1.    Pertaining to, characterized by, or of the nature of a revolution, or a sudden, complete, or marked change: a revolutionary junta.

2.    Radically new or innovative; outside or beyond established procedure, principles, etc.: a revolutionary discovery.

Status Quo

1.    The existing state or condition.
