Photo/ Prose Writing- Unit End Assignment (A30/31 Memoir Unit)- Assigned Jan 25/ 21

You will be responsible for selecting a photo from your life and the community around you-
Knight shared her life with us through a visual journey (Cracks in the Sidewalk)

You will then write a PROSE that aligns with the photo that you have selected from your life.

In your writing, I must see a clear connection in both understanding photo analysis skills and characteristics of PROSE. Use her memoir as an example as she has done a wonderful job, weaving images and her story together.

For your PROSE writing piece, I would like to see a minimum of 10 to 14 sentences in length. I will be looking at language conventions (spelling and grammar), but also – are you pushing the limits with your writing and diving deep with language use and imagery? Remember:

Prose is...

  • Most everyday writing is in prose form
  • The language of prose is typically straight forward without much decoration.
  • Ideas are contained in sentences that are arranged into paragraphs
  • There are no line breaks
  • Sentences run to the right margin
  • The first word of each sentence is capitalized
  • Prose looks like large blocks of words
Once you have completed your unit end assignment, please email it to your teacher with your name clearly marked on the assignment to get credit for your ideas, learning, and application of skills gained throughout this unit of study.
