Notice and Note- Reading Strategy

Throughout your graphic novel study "The Outside Circle", you will practice a reading strategy called " Notice and Note" 

For each chunk of text in "The Outside Circle", you will be assigned one of the Notice and Note strategies, which you can find from the text. These strategies are also called SIGNPOSTS 

You will be given an explanation and example as to what that strategy looks like to help you make sense of the text. 

The Notice and Note Signposts are as follow: 

Notice and Note are particularly noticeable points in a text that stand out as a significant moment in the story.  They provide insight into or raise questions about literacy elements such as a character, setting, conflict, and theme.  Because these signposts are consistently found in a majority of books, they support students as they read a wide range of literature and even nonfiction texts.
